British artist Jane Perkins is doing incredible things in her series, "Plastic Classics," where she takes classic impressionist paintings and adds a contemporary twist using as-is plastic objects, ranging from buttons to curtain hooks. Her work isn't only limited to the classics, though, as she creates a variety of stunning pieces using her found plastic items.
Where she succeeds most is through the arrangement of the plastic pieces. Each is grouped in a cohesive manner, blending the plastics in a fashion that makes the whole portrait work in unison. None of the plastics have been altered, all maintaining their original hue. Instead Perkins uses her keen vision and artistic knowledge to construct vivid, contemporary art.
When looking at each piece, try this: look at it from far away then look at it up close.
